  Great way to spend a wet morning. Excellent history of cheese making museum and lots of interactive stuff for the children. Good shop with lots of quirky gifts and cheese shop where you can sample all the flavours.

  We visited here when we had free time in Hawes as part of a coach trip and were pleasantly surprised! We paid to look round the museum and watched part of the process of it being made then we went into the tasting area..... wow! By chance we had some celery and carrot sticks in our bags as part of our packed lunch which was great to take a bite of after tasting each cheese sample. There must have been over 30 varieties! We all bought some! The staff were very friendly. Unfortunately we didn't have time to stop for a cuppa as we had a bus to catch! Would definitely recommend it but allow at least a couple of hours or the whole day if you want to look round the lovely village of Hawes which has a museum and rope making shop!

  Proper Wensleydale cheese - actually produced in Wensleydale! Many delicious varieties, worth a shopping trip on its own. The museum and production areas are interesting but you only really need to see them once. The cafe is ok (though always crowded and closes relatively early), not tried the posher restaurant so can't comment on that though looks nice. Huge gift shop, mostly full of tourist tat though there's some nicer stuff there too. Friendly staff and plenty of free parking, well worth a visit, even if it's just shopping for cheese!

  Okay, go here for the history of cheese making in the area and you can even see cheese being made on the weekdays. The views outside are stunning to say the least.
  
  The restaurant is amazing. First, staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is clean and has outside seating with great views. The food is an amazing trip. The burger must be hand made there and it has plenty of flavor and perfect texture. Get it with the blue cheese. The cheese plate was perfect and the four cheese were delish! The mac-n-cheese was something from a dream... very creamy and hearty and the bacon gave it a very nice flavor. The salad was flavorful as well and it didn't disappoint in the flavor area either. The ice cream is amazing and a perfect way to cap off such a great meal. This is a must-see!
